Accent Walls & Board-and-Batten in Celina & North DFW

Navy board-and-batten accent wall with brass fixtures by Floors to Doors.

Answer first

A finished accent wall in North DFW typically runs $1,000 to $2,500, depending on the style, the size of the wall, and the finish — with a simple board-and-batten feature at the low end and a full slat, panel-molding, or fluted wall higher up. It's the single fastest way to give a flat builder-grade room a focal point, and it's usually a one-to-two-day job. The cost comes down to how detailed the design is and how big the wall is.

01

How much does an accent wall cost?

Most accent walls in North DFW land between $1,000 and $2,500 finished. What moves the number:

  • Style: a simple board-and-batten grid is the budget end; slat walls, fluted panels, and picture-frame molding cost more in material and labor.
  • Wall size: a standard bedroom wall is quick; a two-story stairwell or a wide living-room wall takes more material and setup.
  • Finish: painted, stained, or a color-matched feature all change the finish cost.
  • Extras: integrated lighting, a floating shelf, or a mounted TV add scope.

02

What kinds of accent walls do you build?

We build feature walls in the styles people actually want right now:

  • Board-and-batten — the classic grid, painted one clean color
  • Vertical slat walls — warm, modern, wood-toned or painted
  • Fluted and reeded panels — subtle texture, a designer look
  • Picture-frame and panel molding — an applied paneled-wall effect
  • Fireplace feature walls — paneling or trim framing the hearth

We lay the design out on the actual wall first so the spacing is even and centered — the part that makes it look designed instead of DIY.

03

What makes an accent wall look designed instead of DIY?

It's all in the layout. The battens or slats have to be evenly spaced, plumb, and centered on the wall — and worked cleanly around outlets, switches, and the ceiling line. A grid that's a half-inch off center or battens that aren't quite plumb is the thing that makes a wall read "weekend project." We measure the wall, balance the spacing, and cut to fit, so the eye reads a deliberate pattern instead of a near-miss. Caulked, filled, and painted, it looks like it was framed into the house.

04

How long does an accent wall take?

Most accent walls are a one-to-two-day job — a day to build it, then fill, caulk, sand, and paint. A large wall, a stairwell, or a detailed slat or fluted design takes longer. Painted finish needs dry time between coats we won't rush. We'll give you a realistic timeline at the estimate.
