Wainscoting in Celina & North DFW

Board-and-batten wainscoting installed by Floors to Doors.

Answer first

Wainscoting in North DFW typically runs $10 to $40 per square foot of wall installed, which puts most single rooms in the $1,000 to $2,500 range depending on the style and how much wall you cover. It's one of the highest-impact upgrades you can make to a plain builder-grade dining room, entry, or stairway — instant architecture on a wall that had none. The cost comes down to the panel style and the square footage.

01

How much does wainscoting cost?

Most wainscoting projects in North DFW land between $1,000 and $2,500 per room, or about $10 to $40 per square foot of covered wall. What moves the number:

  • Style: simple flat-panel and board-and-batten are the budget end; raised-panel and detailed beadboard cost more in material and labor.
  • Coverage: chair-rail height (about a third of the wall) uses less than full-height or floor-to-ceiling paneling.
  • Room size and layout: more wall, more corners, and more doors and windows to work around all add time.
  • Finish: pre-primed and painted costs more than raw material, but it's the finish that makes it look built-in.

02

What styles of wainscoting do you install?

We build wainscoting to match the room and the house:

  • Flat-panel (Shaker) — clean, modern, the most versatile
  • Raised-panel — traditional and formal, common in dining rooms
  • Board-and-batten — vertical battens, great for entries and stairways
  • Beadboard — cottage and casual, good for baths and mudrooms
  • Picture-frame molding — applied panels for a paneled-wall look

We'll walk the room with you and lay out the panels so the spacing is even and the proportions are right — which is most of what separates real wainscoting from a box-store kit.

03

What makes wainscoting look built-in instead of stuck-on?

The trick is the layout and the joints. Panels have to be spaced evenly across the wall, centered on the room, and worked cleanly around outlets, switches, and returns — and the top cap has to run dead level even when the floor isn't. Done right, it looks original to the house. Done fast, it looks like trim glued to drywall. We plan the spacing before we cut a single board, because the math is the part you feel even if you can't name it.

04

How long does wainscoting take to install?

Most single rooms take two to four days — a day or two to install, then fill, caulk, sand, and paint. Larger rooms, stairways, and detailed raised-panel work take longer. Painted finish work needs dry time between coats we won't rush. We'll give you a realistic timeline at the estimate.
