Custom Tile Showers in Celina & North DFW

Herringbone tile wall detail in a custom shower.

Answer first

A custom tile shower in North DFW typically runs between $6,000 and $15,000, depending on size, tile, and features — with smaller or simpler tile work starting lower and large curbless or natural-stone showers running higher. The difference between a custom tile shower and a builder's prefab surround isn't just the look. It's the waterproofing underneath and the precision of the tilework: tight grout lines, straight layouts, and cuts that land where they should. That's the craft we're actually selling.

01

How much does a custom tile shower cost?

Most custom tile showers in North DFW fall between $6,000 and $15,000, with fully custom builds running $20,000 or more. What moves the price:

  • Size: a standard shower uses far less tile than a large master shower — floor and wall tile scale directly with the space.
  • Tile choice: ceramic and porcelain are budget-friendly; natural stone, marble, large-format, and mosaic patterns cost more in material and setting time.
  • Complexity: curbless entries, built-in benches, multiple niches, and book-matched slab layouts add labor.
  • Repairs vs. new: a partial re-tile or regrout starts well below a full build.

02

What makes a tile shower "custom"?

A custom tile shower is built piece by piece for your space, not dropped in as a molded kit. That means:

  • A sloped, fully waterproofed pan built on site
  • Waterproofed walls behind the tile (membrane and sealed seams)
  • Tile set to a layout planned for your space — subway, large-format, herringbone, mosaic, or a combination
  • Built-in niches, a bench or seat, and the trim details done right
  • Glass sized to the opening, from a fixed panel to a full frameless enclosure

The result fits your bathroom exactly and, done properly, lasts decades.

03

How do you waterproof a tile shower?

This is the part that matters most and the part you'll never see. We take the shower down to the studs, fix any soft or rotted framing, then build and slope the pan so water runs to the drain. We apply a full waterproofing membrane across the pan and up the walls, and confirm it holds before any tile goes on. Once it's tiled, what's behind it can't be fixed — so it has to be right the first time. A tile shower that leaks didn't fail at the tile you can see. It failed at the waterproofing you can't. That's the corner everyone's tempted to cut, and it's the one we never do.

04

How long does a custom tile shower take?

Most custom tile showers take about one to two weeks from demo to finish. Larger showers, natural stone, and intricate patterns take longer, and waterproofing and tile-setting each need proper cure time we won't rush. We'll give you a realistic timeline for your specific shower at the estimate.
